As the title says, it is spring time! This week has been an absolutely amazing week in regards to temperatures. It’s been in the mid to upper 70’s and the early spring risers are out and about. Robins are back and are singing their songs. The cardinals have started their mating calls, which are absolutely stunning! I only learned what songs they sing a couple of years ago.
Everything is beginning to bud and bloom as well. I just hope we don’t get any late frosts that could set the fruit plants back. Most notably, our daffodils have all come up and bloomed just in the last 2 weeks. This week alone they grew buds and have started blooming. The tulips are not far behind.
In addition, I have been taking advantage of the nice weather and have been getting some early spring work done in the garden. I just finished digging the grass from the back last night. Since last year’s garden was our first, I didn’t care about getting it all out. We hardly had time to get everything in, because we moved in around the first week in June! Then we remodeled, etc…so the garden got ignored. Not this year!
For the rest of the week, I’m going to be putting black plastic down under the garden fences to keep the grass from growing under it. I’ll be showing some pics tomorrow or this weekend, so stay tuned.
