Re-growing Spring Onions

Posted By on March 7, 2012

Last week we bought some pretty decently flavored spring onions from the grocery store. Spring onions are delicious, and don’t form bulbs on the bottom (from what I know, maybe I’m wrong). Instead they grow long shoots of green that taste similar to bulb onions.

Rather than using what we had and then buying more, we thought what if we just put the roots in water? Would they grow? You be the judge. 🙂

All you need to do is put the cuttings into some water and give them some light. A south windowsill will do just fine. These have been growing for about 4 days, so after several weeks, they’ll be ready for cutting again. Happy onions!
