Planting Tomato and Muncher Cucumber Seeds

Posted By on March 27, 2012

This past Saturday we planted all of our tomato seeds for the season, along with all of our muncher cucumber seeds. We are planting a variety of tomatoes, some in pots, but most in the garden. Our potted tomatoes consist of Roma and Sweet Baby tomatoes. Both of these should do pretty well in pots. The sweet baby tomatoes only get to a small size, and romas just do well all around!

Our garden tomatoes include Black Russians and Marvel Striped. We have never grown either of these, and so are pretty excited to try it out. The marvel stripe tomatoes are bright orange in color, while the black russians will be…well dark in color! We planted 4 pots of each, 3 seeds in each pot, since these are last years batch and will have lower germination rates, unfortunately. We are hoping to get 4 plants of each to plant in the garden.

We also planted 2 pots of muncher cucumbers, in the hope of getting two plants. Again, I planted a couple seeds in each, since they are last years seed so may not germinate as well. We didn’t grow cucumbers last year, so this will be exciting as well. 🙂 I still need to get the trellises built for the melons and cucumbers.
