Muncher Cucumber, Tomato and Pepper Seedlings

I am very happy to say that we had an excellent germination rate for all of out tomatoes. Every single one came up, from what I can tell! They are all growing happily under our grow lights and are not bolting up like last year, due to lack of light.

Our muncher cucumbers had a 100% germination rate! I guess that cucumber seeds are very resilient. They came up in about 3 days, and are now very large! The rate of growth almost indicates that we didn’t even need to plant them early, but this way they will do better overall.

Most of our peppers came up as well. The hot banana peppers came up very well, since they were fresh seed from last year. Surprisingly the carnival seeds came up well also, but they were only a year old. Only one pot of california wonder peppers came up, but we got two plants from it, so we are good with that variety!

We have also figured out how to keep the seed pure on all of our plants, while having them near each other as well. It will involve being attentive to when they bloom, however, we are confident we can do it. Because of this, we decided to plant several more varieties of tomatoes and peppers this year, and plant them around our acreage in random places. I will be updating more on this later.

PS – I have also updated these entries in our seed starting log!
